Art and Design
As a child growing up just outside of NYC our family often visited the local museums. This had a big influence on my career as a graphic designer. Knowing how to draw is at the root of all good visual design.
Recently Paul Klee was showing in New York. We are familiar with his modernistic work. He traversed expressionism, surrealism, cubism, Bauhaus style, and modern art. Though much of this seems like madness, it’s no surprise that he was accomplished at realistic style drawing early on.
All good designers should be able to draw really, really well and to understand how we arrived at our designs.
