Activism — The Little Known Me
Merrimac on Speed
Things come up in life. As a communication designer, I get called on to do stuff. Posters, signs, t-shirts, and of course websites.
Grass Roots Activism
If you’re not doing something to help the community than your really not doing anything much. My pet projects always take me close to home. Recently the state gave permission to the towns to set their own speed limits – so speed traps are popping up all over town. The speed was raised on my street. A street with no sidewalks and a popular biking, hiking, walking the dog, strolling the baby kind of street. A place for the school bus to drop off children. Needless to say there’s a set of bushes for the police to hide behind on this 1/4 mile strip of road. What IS this thinking: let’s put someones baby out there so the town can collect an extra $50 — quite annoying.
I created MerrimaconSpeed.org. It uses a great plugin for gathering data. Here, I’m using it as a petition for an email campaign.
